Our Legacy
"Through the years" we struggled with main and with might, to capture this vision in sight...
A graduate chapter was our aim, and Alpha Kappa Alpha was our claim.
We numbered twenty. We were strong and bold.
UNITED we stood and moved towards our goal.
On December 2, 1961, on this continent, on this earth...
Eta Rho Omega had its birth.

Chartered in December of 1961, the members of Eta Rho Omega are women who utilized their talents under the bonds of sisterhood to create programs and provide services that have a long-lasting history in the Silicon Valley. Programs such as our Baccalaureate, where we award scholarships and celebrate high school graduates, and our Debutante Ball where we provide young ladies and men workshops geared towards broadening their knowledge and experiences in areas of educational enrichment, personal growth, community service and etiquette. Then there are our collaborations with community partners, such as Family Supportive Housing, DREAM House and the African American Community Service Agency to provide clothing, toiletries, school supplies, and toys. Whatever is needed, the women of Eta Rho Omega are there to provide and support!
Under International President Danette Anthony Reed, we are committed to Uplifting Our Local Community through our Women Transforming Health event which focuses on heart health and our Baccalaureate where we celebrate graduating high school seniors. We Empower Families through our partnership with the San Jose Family Shelter by hosting mental health awareness workshops, and we are Strengthening our Sisterhood through our Sister Squads and our We are One MLK service day events.
